Highlight: Hell Creek Spur Road
Located a few minutes away from Woodland Park, CO, Hell Creek Spur Road is a less challenging trail that offers a great deal of scenery and camping. Throughout the trail, there are established aspen trees that turn a beautiful golden yellow in the fall. The campsite at Waypoint 3 has fantastic views of the Air Force Academy and the surrounding area below. Add this to Hell Creek Road and Schubarth Road for a full day of wheeling. The trails in this portion of the Pike National Forest are also packed full of other recreation destinations. Nearby is the Rampart Reservoir. Built in the 1960s, the 13 billion gallon water source is a destination for fishermen, non-motorized watercraft, and those just looking to catch a little sun and sand in Colorado. Near that is the Farish Recreation Area, a mountain resort reserved for military members and their families.
