Located near the community of Indian Lake, New York, Cedar River-Limekiln Road wonders through the Moose River Plains Wild Forest. The road is an easy route of mostly graded dirt with areas of graded gravel. This area is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This road is about finding free camping offered by the state. Dozens of designated dispersed campsites are located along the road. Most of the sites are suitable for vehicles with rooftop tents and those camping with ground tents. The campsites are sized for only one or two vehicles or tents. Most of this road passes under a heavy canopy of trees. Please note, this road and other roads in the area are seasonal and typically open from late spring through late fall/early winter. Hickok Brook Road is an easy out-and-back trail within Hickok Brook State Forest. It provides access to multiple spur trails. Dispersed camping is available and free along the trail and throughout the area.
