School Wash Road

School Wash Road is a scenic trail that climbs to Stout Ridge, where you'll be rewarded with sweeping views of hundreds of hoodoo formations reminiscent of Bryce Canyon National Park, without the crowds. Beginning just off Highway 89, the trail winds through a beautiful pine forest as it steadily gains approximately 700 feet of elevation over the course of 5 miles.

The route is relatively easy but includes a few minor obstacles, including small rock gardens and occasional washed-out sections that will flex your suspension and create mild off-camber situations. While these features add some fun to the drive, they should present little challenge for most high-clearance 4WD vehicles.

There are no designated camping opportunities along the trail, making it best suited as a scenic out-and-back drive or a stop on a longer adventure. At the summit, Stout Ridge delivers the highlight of the trail with panoramic views of striking orange and white rock formations stretching across the landscape, offering a spectacular overlook that rivals some of Utah's most famous scenery.
