Knowing where to find acceptable camping in this vast desert is valuable. This short out-and-back easy two-track travels past a water well before ending at a camping area at the base of the Flat Tops. The area was once an old mining camp, leaving a level area for group or individual campsites. The Flat Tops offer some protection from the heavy winds and a place to explore the local geology. The short trail has a couple of washout ruts to navigate, passable in all stock-type 4x4 vehicles. The trail would be impassable in wet conditions. There are distant views of Spire Point, a row of unique rock outcroppings.
