7 miles of twisting and turning through rock walls, a rockhound's paradise, Carlyle Wash is an excellent continuation of Cedar Mountain or the Moroni Slopes. The trail travels exclusively through a rock-and-sand wash, with fleeting views of the surrounding landscape. Honeycombs of quartz dissect colorful sedimentary layers, hundreds of feet long. While not challenging, the trail is rough and hard on tires. It's essential to have high clearance, durable offroad tires, and 4x4 may be needed for certain vehicle types. The wash can change dramatically after rare but powerful rainstorms.
