Soldier Meadows Road is the primary route into the remote northern Black Rock Desert, running parallel to the Black Rock Playa, crossing vast sagebrush flats, volcanic hills, and wide-open desert valleys. The road provides access to many of the region's most popular destinations, including High Rock Canyon, Soldier Meadows Hot Springs, and numerous dispersed campsites. Along the way, travelers are rewarded with expansive views, opportunities to spot wildlife, and a true sense of Great Basin solitude. While generally easy in dry conditions, washboards, potholes, and seasonal washouts will slow travel. More than just a road, Soldier Meadows Road serves as the gateway to some of Nevada's most scenic and historic backcountry adventures.
