With direct access from Hwy 138, Elliot Ranch 3N22 provides very convenient access to a large staging area with pit toilets, then continues to connect to the popular Cleghorn Ridge trail.
While the Forest Service has rated the trail difficulty as Blue Square or More Difficult, it is an easy drive that can be managed by a beginning offroader in a 2WD vehicle with some ground clearance. The only driving difficulty is water-worn ruts along the route.
The trail is marked with signs stating that overnight camping is not permitted.
An Adventure Pass is required to use the area, and in the staging area, you can purchase passes using your phone.
