Lower Wheeler Wash is a lightly-traveled, 9-mile straight-through trail that starts off Blake Ranch Road on the west end, and follows Wheeler Wash to the Power Line Road (BLM 7191) on the east end. Starting on Blake Ranch road, the trail begins with a short, steep climb that has some severe erosion (up to 18" in depth) that must be straddled to negotiate. After the initial climb, the trail follows a spur that has overgrowth, and pin stripping may occur. The descent into Wheeler Wash is steep with loose rock, which may cause your vehicle to slide, and is again overgrown. Once in the wash, the trail has minor erosion damage and small rock gardens to negotiate. The wash has stands of piñon pines and juniper trees, and many other Mohave Desert flora to enjoy. The views of the Hualapai Mountains in the background make the view spectacular. Lower Wheeler Wash is an open range area for livestock. Show respect and drive slowly when passing grazing cattle.
