Aquarius Cliffs

Aquarius Cliffs trail is a 17-mile point-to-point trail that travels up Gordon Canyon into the Aquarius Mountains. The majority of the trail is easy to travel, with some steep sections with loose rocks. Once in the higher elevations, the trail becomes a narrow mountain shelf road. The most difficult section is a narrow wash with high cliffs. Years of erosion damage have exposed large rocks and created washouts that must be negotiated.

Aquarius Cliffs trail provides many expansive views of the surrounding area. All types of desert flora and fauna can be seen on this trail. Sequoia, cholla, ocotillo, barrel, and prickly pear are some of the cacti that can be found along this trail. Drive slowly through the narrow wash for the best opportunity to see wildlife. Javelinas, kit foxes, mule deer, and burros are commonly seen in this area. Further in Gordon Canyon the remnants of mining can be found. There are old structures, vehicles, and prospecting sites along this trail.

Camping can be found along the trail in the lower elevations, once you start up the canyon there are very few camping options.
