Overview

Sledge Hammer offers everything you've come to expect from the Pike National Forest: Dramatic outcrops of Pikes Peak granite, grassy meadows surrounded by sparse pine forest and aspen groves, and secluded campsites with views for miles. Situated a few miles southeast of famous (and often crowded) Eleven Mile Canyon, this out-of-the-way trail network is a true hidden gem. Most summer days, you'd be hard-pressed to find two or three other rigs on the trail. The few established campsites are true havens of back-country peace and quiet.
