Soft sand in places, but generally easy. We headed down Vallecito then took the hard left turn on Arroyo Tapiado down to the mud caves. We live in Borrego Springs so we do this area a lot. It's a fun place to show friends and usually not too crowded. The unexpected treat this time was a the huge bloom of verbena -- so unusual at this time of year!

This trail has some sand that can be deep in sections, but I watched somebody drive the whole trail on street tires with 2wd. An easy trail for any experience level.

The wash is good shape. Used it to get to Diablo Drop Off. Recent rain helped ease the wash board feel.

Great wash. We used it as a connector route to get to Arroyo Tapiado on our way to the mud caves. Beautiful scenic drive.
