Overview
Crossing the Continental Divide and traveling between two National Forests, Marshall Pass was first a toll road before later becoming the first railroad route over the Continental Divide. This route was once considered a viable option for US 50, connecting Salida and Gunnison rather than Monarch Pass. Today, this gravel road still follows the old railroad grade and offers amazing views of mountain tops, meadows, lakes, fall foliage, and abundant wildlife.
