Trail Information

Highlights

Just northwest of the Tarryall Mountains and popular trails like China Wall Road, Observatory Rock Road offers a very different kind of Colorado trail. This simple dirt road through mountain prairies dips and dives between mountain peaks only a few hundred feet higher than the road itself. This altitude means scenic views throughout this trail and the area. The trail is a great addition to check out while exploring trails in the Badger Mountain Trail Network.

Explored this trail after I had visited Packer Gulch Road. Other than it having less traffic compared to Packer, this trail is uneventful. The trail eventually ends next to a home. There was no snow on the entire trail. I did not come across another person during this drive.

We checked on Eagle Rock and its connecting trails. No major changes to the write up but the road is a little rougher due to recent rains.

We ran Observatory Rock on our way out of the area and it's a pretty drive without anything to worry about in terms of getting stuck, etc. I would run this again but only if we were camping or doing a leisurely day in the dirt around the Badger Mountain Trail Network.
