Overview

If you like narrow, steep Rocky Mountain trails, then this trail is for you. The road follows the South Fork Michigan River up the mountain side to the edge of the Never Summer Wilderness area. The trail is wet, rocky, steep and very narrow with very few places to pass other vehicles. Views of the nearby mountain peaks is limited as you will remain in the thick forest for most of the route. This is a trail that requires paying attention and having a slow, deliberate pace. Once at the trail's end, the mountain views are peaceful and majestic. If you enjoy a hike, a hiking trail into Rocky Mountain National Park begins where the vehicle trail ends.
