Highlight: Libby Flats
Starting near tree line in the Snowy Range Mountains of southern Wyoming, Libby Flats is an easy 4x4 trail that meanders through the Medicine Bow National Forest. This off-road trail is only open and accessible for a few months each year because of the exceptional amount of snowfall during the winter and spring months. Luckily, the golden fall color featuring the abundant aspen trees makes up for the short season that the trail is open. Libby Flats is a trail to take for the beauty of the high mountain views. Although this area receives considerable snow during the winter, that is not how the Snowy Range Mountains received their name. The color of the rocky peaks gives the appearance of being covered with snow even when no snow is present.
