Trail Information

Highlights

Yansing Gulch, previously known as Chinaman Gulch, is a very popular, difficult rock crawling trail ideal for testing the limits of modifieds vehicles. Minimal snow to the area makes it a great location for winter wheeling. There are many obstacles and rocks to play on along this 4wd trail, many of which provide multiple lines from easy to hard. Although not very scenic, the occasional views of the Collegiate Peaks are astonishing. This trail is a great trail for groups as the main obstacles provide enough room for vehicles to pull out of the way and watch other vehicles attempt the obstacle.

Trail makes for a good time of tackling obstacle after obstacle. Trail was completely dry.

All in all a great day playing on the rocks. This trail is more technical than most. Trying to do the rock pile, I did get wedged coming off and pulled cable to get off the obstacle. Towards the end of the trail, I underestimated the tightness of a turn and took out my driver taillight and dented the rear quarter panel. OUCH!

Fairly difficult obstacles but we had no trouble in our 2dr JL on 37's. The tight turning radius of the 2 door is a plus on this trail. Great ride!

My favorite crawling trail. Holds your attention the whole way without being bumpy just for the sake of being bumpy. The playground areas are great for challenging yourself without high consequences. I’d recommend 33+ tires and at least one locker.

Great trail with good density of obstacles. I ran it solo and was racing sunset and stupidly cut my front passenger tire down in the sandy wash on one of those rocks hanging just off the trail. Finished in 2hrs with no traffic, one tire change, and no stopping to smell the roses. The hardest couple obstacles are a mandatory 6. Lots of play areas with harder obstacles if you have the time and people to help you if you break. Had to stack a rock under the rear driver’s side on obstacle #10. No winching, but definitely taxed and overheated the steering system in my LJU 392 on 37s. This is the first trail I’ve overheated the steering system since installing the Apex kit.
