Trail Information

Highlights

A side trip to the old Dos Cabezas Limestone Mine, established in 1958, is worth adding to your explorations of the vast Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Sites along this short trail include the abandoned limestone mine, an old train trestle, and one of the more unique campsites in the park. The next time you are in the area, make a quick loop and check out the sites of Dos Cabezas Limestone Mine.

Short Easy trail. Interesting to see the old mining pit but not much left.

A neat spot along the main route. Didn't know there is a cool camping spot for a small group in the mine. Redit of the trail is on its way.

The description is a but misleading because you definitely don’t need lockers and articulation to make the loop. Unless there is an alternate hill climb I missed, the loop marked on the GPX was not challenging and could be done in 2wd.
