Trail Information

Highlights

Starting from the Carrizo Valley on S2, the trail enters a tight and colorful gorge with the Tierra Blanca Mountains on the north and the Jacumba Mountains on the south. As you drive, towering canyon walls on either side give way to Indian Valley, a beautiful bowl dotted with backlight chollas that create an angelic glow. You will want to drive slowly, looking for the well-camouflaged big horn sheep who like to call the canyon walls home.

For those of us that like a really easy but active trial, this one is great. Decent back and forth turns and sand accompanied by incredible desert landscape. Some pinstripe will happen, so if you are trying to remain unscathed, be aware. This is a dual hiking trail given the beauty of the area so go slow so you don't dust up their experience.

So much history in this area, also saw some Big Horn Sheep right next to the trail. That was cool. New trail edit inbound.

Very easy, very scenic. If your luck enough to snag one of the very few camp spots along this route you’ll rest easy in your seclusion. The colors were vibrant this time of year and plenty of critters scampering around to entertain the littles.

This was a fun sandy trail but there were plenty of decent-sized rocks that you need to be aware of.

It was a nice scenic trail, easy to do as the trail rating indicates. My kids got a kick out of all the rabbits and mice looking creatures running around.
