Technically, Rocky Beaver is an out-and-back trail, but it does connect to Little Bald about three-quarters of the way through, so only the last mile is truly out and back. Combined with Little Bald, it connects Pearl Beaver Road and Sand Creek Pass. The road is one and a half to two vehicles wide most of the way and is gravel which hasn’t been graded in a long time, so there are plenty of small to medium ruts and bumps but nothing major. The roughest and hardest part is after the intersection with Little Bald, where the trail is narrower and slightly overgrown in places. Dispersed camping is allowed, but there were only a few suitable sites, mostly in the last mile.
