Named after the iconic cartoon character from the Flinstones, Barney Rubble is a technical trail located within Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA). This trail requires precise vehicle control as you surgically maneuver through a vast expanse of tombstone-sized boulders. As a newly recognized Jeep Badge of Honor trail, this epic trail is a rock crawler's fantasy that will keep the adrenaline pumping through your veins for hours. Whether you come for the badge, the challenge, or the adventure, be sure to explore as many trails as you can within this 8,000 acres off-road park.

Trail Difficulty and Assessment

Trail Navigation

Barney Rubble, labeled as trail 49, is located within the eastern reserve of Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area. This short, straight-through trail has one early exit and several lines up a long, boulder-strewn hill. The official park map makes the trail appear as if there are multiple southern legs to the trail, but rest assured, the lines on the map simply mark the separate driving lines up the boulder field and do not represent separate trail spurs.

Barney Rubble is one continuous obstacle as you tip-toe your way up the trail attempting to avoid getting high-centered on any number of large rocks. This trail is best for highly modified vehicles with larger tires, locking differentials, and heavy-duty differential covers. Rock sliders and skid plates are highly recommended.

Constant rock garden with big boulders. Definitely a fun trail that could take a really long time without the right rig.
