Overview

Located in western Monongalia County, much of the land is a mixture of old strip mines, forest, and farmland. Because of this, there are many primitive and unmaintained county roads to explore. This is a great place to escape into the forest and get some mud on the tires. There are some tight spots that can be fun weaving through trees but full-width vehicles could have issues and likely pinstriping. If you drive the trail from east to west, the muddiest parts will be going uphill to provide a bit more challenge. The trail is relatively short but there are many similar trails nearby, such as Dolls Run. By linking some of these up, you can easily make a day of it and see spots in the area that most people don't even know about. Or, if you're just passing through or visiting Morgantown, it's a great short excursion if you don't have time for a longer trail.
