Forest Road 57 is located in southwest lower Ocala National Forest. FR57 is a relaxed drive through the forest on a well-maintained road, so visitors in any vehicle can take a stroll. Visitors will drive over water, go through hilly terrain, and helicopters may fly overhead from the nearby Ocala Camp Fire Control Center. Ocala National Forest is one of three National Forests in Florida. It spans 385,000 acres and is the second-largest National Forest in Florida. Exploring this area can be done in many ways, such as hiking, boating, horseback, OHV, ATV, and street-legal vehicles. Come hunt, camp, watch wildlife, visit a shooting range, or even see the Naval Bombing Range!

Forest Road 57 is also known as Railroad Grade Road. Railroad Grade Road is clearly marked with a road sign at the intersection of FL-19 and CR-445A.

Directions to Trailhead

Starting Point: Altoona, Florida

Starting at the intersection of FL-19 and Bent Tree Road, take FL-19 north for 10.6 miles to CR-445A. At the intersection of FL-19 and CR-445A, there is a road sign for Railroad Grade Road/FR57, make a sharp left/west onto Railroad Grade Road/FR-57, and the trail starts immediately.
