Highlight: Burns Park Road
Near Lake George, Colorado, Burns Park Road has scenery and rocks along the old mining road. The moderate off-road trail starts off on easy rutted dirt with views of the mountains and works its way into deeper forest, where the rocks get rougher, and the challenge ticks up. Those looking to get away from the crowds, or new wheelers looking to cut their teeth on something before conquering the nearby China Wall can start here. This trail is in the Puma Hills area of the Tarryall Mountains and was once busy with mining activity. The locals in this area dug routes into the mountains to get ore back to main trails like La Salle Pass and over into the South Park Valley. Adding Burns Park Road to Thorpe Road and La Salle Pass can make for a full day of bumpy and historic wheeling.
