Highlight: Hell Creek Road
A lot of trails in Colorado can make you feel small because of big heights and forever views, but Hell Creek Road does it by surrounding you with bigger than life boulders. This trail, located near Woodland Park, CO has areas of rocks that are larger than any vehicle you can drive through them. Some of these boulder areas host some amazing campsites, only adding options to the multitude of camping opportunities on these trails. The trails in this portion of the Pike National Forest are also packed full of other recreation destinations and nearby is the Rampart Reservoir. Built in the 1960s, the 13 billion gallon water source is a destination for fishermen, non-motorized watercraft, and those just looking to be a beach bum in Colorado. Near that is the Farish Recreation Area, a mountain resort reserved for military members and their families. Snow wheeling is a blast in this area with lots of off-camber spots and frozen creeks to drive through. Add Hell Creek Road to any of the connecting trails to make a loop for a full day of wheeling any time of the year.
