Trail Information

Highlights

FS645 Cabarton Road is in the Boise National Forest. This trail is a great 15-mile trek to Cascade Lake until the Wilks brothers decided to block access with a locked gate. The area is still beautiful with the Tripod Meadow and Tripod Creek nearby. There are dozens of dispersed campsites in the area but be aware of the wild animals that call this forest home in addition to the hunters that hunt them.

Patricia and I had a great time today checking some of these shorter spur trails, the high for the day was 28 degrees, getting a bit too cold for camping but it was beautiful while driving. This trail appears to be about the same as our last visit.

My wife Patricia, my 2 fur babies, and I had a great time exploring the spur trails in the area. We had no idea until we pulled up to the trailhead that this trail would be blocked 1.2 miles down the road. It is more than worth the drive with fantastic forest views and creek crossings. We will return when its a bit dryer to do some dispersed camping.
