Highlight: Ocala - Forest Road 45
Ocala National Forest is one of three National Forests in Florida. Spanning 385,000 acres, Ocala is the second largest National Forest in Florida. Exploring Ocala National Forest can be done in many ways such as hiking, boating, horseback, OHV, ATV, and street-legal vehicles. Ocala National Forest is great for anyone looking to hunt, camp, watch wildlife, visit a shooting range, or even see the Naval Bombing Range! FR45 is a scenic trail running through southern Ocala National Forest. FR45 goes directly to Pinecastle Impact Range where the Navy pilots train. The trail cuts through various parts of the forest where trees and prescribed burns have cleared out areas.

1. National Forest Road 45 Trailhead (0 mi)
Turn north off FR02 to start FR45.

Directions to Trailhead

Starting Point: Altoona, Florida

At the intersection of FL-19 and SE Highway 42, turn westbound on SE Highway 43 and follow it for almost 9 miles. On the north side of SE Highway 42 there will be a well-traveled dirt road with a sign for SE 222 Ct. Follow this dirt road (which turns into FR02) for almost 5.5 miles and FR45 will be labeled.
