Whether you are looking to ditch the pavement for the sake of finding dirt roads, looking for a plethora of dispersed camping options not far from a town, where you can still have cell phone service, or you are just looking for some great hiking on the western side of the James Peak Wilderness, Aqueduct Road between Winter park and Tabernash is probably the trail for you.
This road takes you by several popular hiking trails such as Jim Creek and Devils Thumb and passes many camp spots along the trek. This road is a good place to see fall colors, as there are many aspen groves along the road and many that can be seen down in the Fraser Valley from this road. One unique feature is the ability to see Winter Park Ski Resort from the opposite ridgeline the resort sits on.
