An hour's drive from Denver, Crossons is a scenic trail that is part of the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. If you're looking to get away from the crowds in this busy area, this old mining road to Crossons is your best bet to find some alone time. The trail starts in a wooded area and breaks out into a burn scar that allows for some amazing views of Pike's Peak and the mountain ranges to the north and west. What is left of the town of Crossons is now private property, but open to the public if you're respectful and willing to walk the 2.5 miles to get there from the gate at the end of this trail. Don't miss this isolated trail with expansive views of the mountains and some accessible Colorado mining history.
