Trail Information

Highlights

Just north of Helen, Georgia lies Corbin Creek Road. Twisting and turning all the way to the top of Tray Mountain, this popular trail is the northernmost and smoothest way to Tray Gap, a small parking area and the intersection with the famous Appalachian Trail. In addition to some great camping spots, there are stunning views to the northwest overlooking the Chinquapin Ridge - especially in the winter months when there are no leaves on the trees blocking the view. So whether you're out day hiking the Appalachian Trail, looking for some secluded camping, or just out for a beautiful mountain drive, give Corbin Creek Road a look.

Trail Difficulty and Assessment

Trail Navigation

Corbin Creek Road can be ran in either direction. Heading north is primarily downhill while heading south is primarily uphill. This formerly smooth gravel road has been worn down from use and weather over the years and is now quite rocky with a few small ruts. Grades are slight and the road is adequately wide with plenty of passing areas. Although passable by most passenger vehicles in all conditions except snow and ice, ground clearance is helpful and makes for a much more pleasurable ride.

Gate was closed at the top. No idea the condition of the road.

Easy ride, road in good shape whole way. Can be muddy in wet conditions as gravel is gone in some places. All camping areas full this weekend!

Trail was really fun! Did some camping right off the trail near a waterfall.

Very simple trail ran East to West. We saw non a couple low clearance vehicles at the Easter side. The only concern is that there are a lot of curves on the trail that are hard to see around with all the surrounding foliage and mountain. You want to make sure to be careful around these to ensure you don't run into anyone else.

Awesome easy trail that can be done in a stock vehicle with 2 wheel drive. No issues at all. Matter of fact the kids drove most of the time.
