Trail Information

Highlights

About 25 minutes east of East Ellijay, Georgia and just north of Amicalola Falls State Park lies Noontootla Road. One of the main routes through the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area, this trail follows along Noontootla Creek and then Chester Creek offering outstanding views for almost the entire way. This trail also crosses and has a small parking area for the famous Benton MacKaye Hiking Trail which also is the closest access point for the popular Long Creek Falls. So if you are looking for some of the best camping in the entire state or out for a great hike or drive through the forest, check out Noontootla Road.

Drove this yesterday. Beautiful trail especially this time of year with leaves off the trees. Lots of rivers, streams, and waterfalls.

Awesome trail right by a beautiful creek. Plenty of campsites but they fill up fast on the weekend so get there early. This trail is also busy pretty much all year but can get super crowded when the weather is nice.

Unbelievably beautiful, easy trail. Road in good shape, suitable for any passenger car in dry conditions. Great colors right now and most of the camping spots were open.

Beautiful easy drive with amazing camping spots. This forest service road is a bit rocky and narrow in some places but still doable in any vehicle. The views of Noontootla creek and the designated dispersed camping spots along the way are the real attractions here. If you're looking for a bit more of a challenge where the sedans probably won't be following, you can branch off onto forest service road 58E near the western end of the trail. This out and back offshoot is suitable for beginners in any higher clearance 4wd vehicle. Also, I highly recommend the short easy hike to Long Creek Falls at the Appalachian Trail/Benton MacKaye crossing, though this can be quite crowded on weekends.

2 or 3 trees are down. Small cars can go underneath but trucks and larger cars cannot. Had to turn around.
