Trail Information

Highlights

Right in the middle of the Coopers Creek Wildlife Management Area lies Dixon Branch Road, a short seasonal road also known as Ridge Runner Trail. This rarely traveled trail runs along the base of Dunsmore Mountain and Parke Knob all the way to Fish Gap. There is an access point to the Duncan Ridge Hiking Trail, a strenuous trail for experienced backpackers with one of the most challenging climbs in the country at the end of this road. If you are looking for hiking, camping or just out exploring the forest, Dixon Branch Road is a fun easy trail to hit if you are in the area.

There was a tree down about 8/10 of a mile from the trailhead. Not a very big tree so someone with a chainsaw could make quick work of it.

Not much to this trail other than the hidden access point for the Duncan Ridge Trail. 2 waterfalls off this road if you want to hike up along the 3rd creek up (unnamed creek).
