AC9476 is part of a network of trails in this area at the base of the Cady Mountains, east of the small desert community of Newberry Springs, California. This scenic off-road trail includes surrounding hills of dark ancient lava covered with contrasting white sand, distant desert mountain horizons, and long stretches of soft, smooth desert road. This trail can be combined with a few others for a quick loop or combined with many others for a full-out overland trip through the Mojave.

Directions to Trailhead

Starting Point: Barstow

From Barstow; Follow I-40 east for 19 miles to the National Trails (exit 18). Take exit 18 from I-40 east. Turn right onto National Trails Hwy. After 1.8 miles turn left onto Newberry Road. Continue on Newberry Road for 3.9 miles and turn right onto Valley Center Road. Drive 6 miles until Valley Center Road ends and turn left (north). Continue north for 1/2 mile and turn right on BL9470. Continue on BL9470 for 1.2 miles and the AC9476 trailhead is on the left.
