Trail Information

Highlights

This bypass road is a viable alternative should the nearby section of Mojave Road be closed due to erosion. The bypass here is an adventurous four-wheel drive route that takes you deep into seldom seen areas within the Mojave National Preserve. There are portions of this route that are highly vegetated while meandering through a wash with plenty of Creosote, Yucca, and Cholla plants to make for an ever-changing foreground as you make way back to the Lanfair Valley and the main Mojave Road.

An easy bypass route, or just an alternate to drive a lesser-traveled segment when in the great Mojave.

We completed a trip of the Mojave Road and this bypass road was not necessary as the main route was open again. There were some signs noting flood damage but there were not "road closed" signs.

This is a fun little detour! The route through the washy areas are beautiful and a good amount of camping opportunities.
