Javelin Road has the unique distinction of being the only maintained dirt road that penetrates deep into the park's rugged landscape. Offering multiple camping opportunities, the route extends south from the Sauceda Ranger Station, through the Llano, offering views of the Papalote Llano towards the east and the Panther Mountains to the west. For those looking to explore the likes of rugged trails likes of Rancherias Loop or Madrid Falls Road, then Javelin Road is the pleasant reprieve from more inhospitable adventures – but for the more refined, Javelin Road provides a pleasant direction from the Main Park Road and Llano Loop.
