Log Porch Road is a gravel and rough dirt forest road located off E Highway 44 between Hisega and Johnson Siding. It is accessible by most vehicles with moderate ground clearance and provides access to the center of the Shanks and Schroeder Trail system, intersecting with Schmitz. It is also an option for those looking for access to the Flat Nasties rock crawling trail. As you get closer to Schmitz, there will be small, grapefruit-sized embedded rocks in the path to make the ride a little bumpy.

A few small clearings suitable for camping may be found on both spurs off Log Porch Road. The beginning of Log Porch Road shares access with a few residences, so remember to drive slowly and be mindful of others.
