This trail, branching off Bogus Jim Road and providing access to the east side of the Cereal Bowl trails, is accessible by moderate to high-clearance 4WD vehicles. It becomes progressively more technical and rocky as it reaches further into the trail system, and undercarriage damage is possible. Users should expect deep ruts and basketball-sized loose and embedded rocks. Pinstriping from tree branches is also likely.
Bogus Jim Branch 1 offers two notable camping or staging areas. The first is located directly off Bogus Jim Road, with the second just up the hill near the Fruity Pebble Bypass. Both are large enough for multiple vehicles and campers.
FS 6311 is an optional, difficult shortcut near the southern end of Bogus Jim Branch 1 for those who want to push their vehicle through some larger rocks.
