Hat Mountain is a year-round, rough dirt trail near Bogus Jim Road. It starts near the intersection of the Fruity Pebbles rock-crawling trail and Fruity Pebbles Bypass. Hat Mountain can be tackled by any SUV or truck with moderate ground clearance; however, it can only be accessed via Fruity Pebbles, the Fruity Pebbles Bypass, or by the Cereal Bowl Bypass, which are all more difficult than Hat Mountain.

This trail ends with a loop around the trail's namesake, Hat Mountain. While there is no trail to the peak, users can park along the loop and walk up, should they choose to do so.

There are no designated camping locations on Hat Mountain, but several areas along the trailside are wide enough to support tents or vehicle-based camping.
