Sawmill Road West is a nice scenic off-road drive starting in the desert valley and climbing to an elevation of 5600 feet. Scenic landscape starts with brush and dirt/gravel roads and progresses to pine trees and snow during the winter season. Sawmill Road West is an optional entrance from the north into the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, which connects to Mormon Well Road. There are scattered camp sites along the trail, some big enough to fit multiple vehicles and tents.
