Pine Creek Road winds through the Boise National Forest with wide-open views of the surrounding Boise Mountains. The route begins just north of historic Idaho City, once one of the West’s largest mining towns in the 19th century, and follows a single-lane dirt track suitable for most high-clearance vehicles. Surface conditions range from smooth stretches to potholes and embedded rock, but the drive remains easy to navigate. There are no developed campgrounds along the road, though several dispersed sites appear along the way; for amenities, Bald Mountain Campground sits just past the southern end of the trail.
