The Bear Valley Road is a well-maintained, mostly two-lane, gravel road going from Lowman, Idaho, to Bear Valley Campground. Other than some mostly annoying (but seldom serious) potholes and washboards, it is an easy drive suitable for any vehicle. The road climbs up and over Clear Creek Summit and then descends into Bear Valley, where it follows along Bear Valley Creek, which is a delightful, clear, mountain stream.
Camping is allowed in designated dispersed sites only, most of which are on the southern end of the road. Additionally, several improved campgrounds can be found in the area, such as Park Creek Campground on the south end and Bear Valley Campground, just west of the northern end. Campground sites charge a nightly fee and are mostly equipped with tables and fire rings. Pit toilets are also available.
