Hidden completely within the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area, a 17,000+ acre area known for primitive camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing, is a fun little side trail by the name of River Ridge Road. The only road under the management of the Wildlife Management Area as opposed to the Forest Service, this seasonal side trail travels the top of the ridge above the Middle Fork Broad River (the river is not visible from the trail). If you are hiking or camping in the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area and looking for a rarely traveled side trail to explore, give River Ridge Road a look.
