The West Fork of the Cimmaron River is packed with impressive Colorado views from a flowing river and iconic mountain landmarks. Chimney Rock is the big spire viewed from Ridgeway and is in the movie "True Grit," filmed in this location. This lofty and rocky peak will be your companion as you travel up the road along the West Fork Cimmaron River into the amazing Colorado backcountry, right where the Uncompahgre Wilderness Area begins. You can also discover the beginning of the Owl Creek Pass irrigation canal that flows down toward Silverjack Reservoir. At the very end of the trail, you will find the Wetterhorn foot trailhead, which would lead you to many 14rs (14,000' peaks) in the Uncompahgre Mountains. The camping is epic, and the scenery beyond compare. Plan on an afternoon of delight as you venture into a hidden valley at the end.
