Kennebec Pass, located within the San Juan National Forest, is an excellent way to experience back-country four wheeling without an all-day commitment. The trail travels up a picturesque mountain pass to almost 12,000 feet for incredible panoramas of the surrounding mountains. The trail doesn't have any major challenges for stock 4x4's but it does have a narrow ledge that will keep you on your toes until the end.
The 1.8 million acre San Juan National Forest located in southwest Colorado has thousands of miles of back-roads and hundreds of 4x4 trails to explore. The region's diverse terrain offers outdoor enthusiasts a wide variety of opportunities to experience nature without the large crowds found to the north. There are also plenty of great established campsites located along all the main routes.
