Bullion King is a quick out-and-back trail that offers big views. It runs parallel to the beginning of the iconic Black Bear Pass and ends at the mouth of Porphyry Basin, where the Porphyry Basin Mine once stood. Though we give Bullion King an Easy rating, drivers should be aware of a significant stretch of shelf road. Keep an eye out for oncoming vehicles on the shelf and note places that provide an opportunity for passing. At the trail's end is a parking area for the Porphyry Basin Trailhead that takes hikers up and around several small alpine lakes, including Bullion King Lake and Porphyry Lake.
