Porphyry Basin Road is a quick out-and-back trail that offers big views while it runs parallel to the beginning of the iconic Black Bear Pass. Though we give Porphyry Basin Road an Easy rating, drivers should be aware of a significant stretch of shelf road. Keep an eye out for oncoming vehicles on the shelf and note places that provide an opportunity for passing. At the trail's end is a parking area for the Porphyry Basin Trailhead that takes hikers up and around Bullion King Lake.
