Deer Spring Pipeline Road

Deer Spring Pipeline Road follows a corridor through the Mojave Preserve, through open Mojave Desert terrain, winding through corridors of Joshua trees and offering expansive views across Shadow Valley toward the rugged Clark Mountains—the highest mountain range within Mojave National Preserve. Along the way, the abandoned Cow Cove Ranch provides an opportunity to explore its remaining buildings, enormous corral, and distinctive rock-covered water tank. Quiet and lightly traveled, the trail is an enjoyable backcountry connector with a genuine sense of remoteness.

The southern 8 miles are part of Segment 2 of the Eastern Mojave Heritage Trail, a roughly 190-mile section of the larger 733-mile backcountry route developed through the efforts of the Bureau of Land Management and the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association.

A suitable location for dispersed camping is around the Cow Cove Ranch.

The trail follows a narrow road across gently rolling terrain. Drivers should expect occasional rocky stretches, erosion, wash crossings, and fallen trees that may block or partially obstruct the route. A high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended.
