Pueblo La Plata is a well-preserved prehistoric pueblo in Agua Fria National Monument, about 45 miles north of Phoenix, Arizona. Built between about A.D. 1200 and 1450 by people of the Perry Mesa Tradition, the hilltop settlement once contained around 80–90 stone rooms that overlooked Silver Creek. Today, visitors can walk a 0.25 mile, easy trail to see the remaining stone walls and learn about the community's farming, trade, and daily life. The site is free to visit year-round, but there are no facilities, and visitors are asked to leave artifacts undisturbed and avoid climbing on the ancient walls.
The trail is a well maintained graded dirt road with a few minor bumps along the way, but nothing worse than Bloody Basin Road. Watch for occasional washouts.
