Golden Gate Mine Road is a 7-mile point-to-point trail that starts in the Hualapai Wash and climbs up over the Grand Wash Cliffs and into Meadview. There are remnants of the Golden Gate Mine about halfway up the trail. This mine was established around 1882 as part of the Lost Basin mining district. The mine intermittently operated through the years and officially closed in the 1940's due to the overwhelming presence of mining hazards. This trail has substantial erosion damage with rock gardens of small to medium-sized rocks to negotiate. As you climb in elevation, the wash narrows. There is one rock obstacle that has a set of rock ledges approximately 20" in height. As you crest the Grand Wash Cliffs, take time to look back down the valley for a great view of the Hualapai Wash area. There are a few dispersed camping sites along the BLM portion of this trail as you get closer to Meadview.
