Back Road to Temple Bar is a 23.6-mile point-to-point trail that crosses the open desert, passing through Joshua trees and sagebrush, and ends at the Temple Bar Marina on Lake Mead. The first section of the trail is a maintained road that passes through windmill farms, which then turns into a double-track trail of rough dirt and loose sand. There are several spots along the trail where water erosion has created shallow trenches to negotiate. As the trail gets closer to Temple Bar Marina, you can see the blue of Lake Mead contrasting against the desert colors. Temple Bar Marina has a boat ramp, a tent and RV campground, a store, a hotel, and a restaurant.
