Bulldog FR 12 Willow Canyon AZ

Bulldog Canyon 1356 winds between the Superstition Mountains to the east and the Goldfield Mountains to the west. The ultra-rugged Superstitions are home to one of Arizona's most infamous legends, the Lost Dutchman's Gold. The Bulldog Mine was one of the richest gold mines in the country but has now been mostly reclaimed by the desert.

Bulldog Canyon 1356 creates an ideal opportunity to have a memorable 4x4 experience without an all-day commitment. Over the years, the area's trails have become more worn and, in most cases, more enjoyable. This route, in particular, is more challenging because of its use and natural erosion. The 20-degree-plus rocky hill climbs and tippy ledges are exhilarating and challenging for stock 4x4 owners. This route required low-range gearing, high clearance, and durable tires. There are steep rocky climbs and deep off-camber washouts.

Camping is sparse along the way, with only a few primitive campsites. Due to Forest Order 03-12-03-22-34, camping is prohibited within 1 mile from the Willow Staging Area until at least January 12, 2026.

Please stay on the clearly marked trail. You must obtain a six-month permit from the Tonto National Forest to receive the gate lock codes.
