Rattlesnake Alley, a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail introduced in 2023, is a spirited drive through Kansas Rocks Recreation Park. It winds down through a wooded and rocky ravine offering several different terrain features that will thrill new and experienced drivers alike. The mysterious old barn, with no known story behind it, provides a perfect spot for a lunch break with wheeling buddies. Combine this with C2 for both BOH Badges to make a great day in the park.

Trail Difficulty and Assessment

Trail Navigation

Rattlesnake Alley's road surface is a mix of rock and dirt. That dirt turns to mud when wet, and there are two notably more difficult sections when wet. In addition, there are several short but steep hills to manage, along with a few minor rock gardens. The trail is suitable for any stock high-clearance vehicle with four-wheel drive and beginners. Please note that Rattlesnake Alley for the Badge of Honor follows this guide, and it does include pieces and parts of other trails, making it a route. Before you venture off, there are items you need to be aware of regarding the park's access.

Park Hours: The park has open hours and days between seasons.

Summer: April 1 to October 1.

  • Friday: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
  • Sunday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with no entry after 3:00 pm

Winter: October 1 to April 1

Fees and Waivers: The park offers daily or annual passes that can be purchased upon check-in, where you will sign a waiver. The seasonal pass can be purchased online.

Route Finding and Maps: The park's map utilizes a different color coding system than Trails Offroad. Any road listed on the park map shown in red is considered a main road, whereas the Trails Offroad color coding system red is regarded as a "difficult" trail.

This makes for a nice loop in the eastern part of the park. The old barn is a cool place to hangout for a bit. I can see this trail being super tough for long vehicles like gladiators. The trees you have to turn around in spots is going to take dozen back ups lol.

What a fun trail! We had the opportunity to drive this on a very sunny and dry day in early May which made the conditions just perfect. I could see this trail being much more difficult in wet weather, but still a boatload of fun.
